Wipe the screen with a dry microfibre cloth, then full-screen white. A mark that is still there and shows only on light colours is a pressure mark. A bright spot that shows on black instead is a backlight reflector, which a repair shop can fix.

The liquid crystal at that spot has been physically squeezed and no longer aligns; rubbing, heat, pixel-fixer videos and "massage" methods make it worse, not better. What you can do is tell a real pressure mark from something that only looks like one — a smudge, a bit of grit between the screen and keyboard, or a loose backlight reflector — because those do come off or can be repaired.

Can it be fixed?

No, for a true pressure mark. Very faint marks sometimes fade over a few weeks as the crystal relaxes; most do not. The fix is a new panel, and it is not a warranty fault. Stop pressing on it.

What to do

  1. Clean the screen and re-check on white and on black.
  2. Leave it alone: no pressing, no heat, no pixel-fixer videos — they do nothing for a pressure mark.
  3. Decide whether it is worth a panel; for a small mark most people live with it.
  4. Prevent the next one: nothing on the keyboard when the lid closes, and no weight on the closed laptop.
